#1kaday Weigh-In

Okay, it’s been half a month, and I thought it was time to check in on our #1kaday progress.

So far, I’m happy to say, I’m on schedule — I’ve written 1,000 words a day on average (had to skip some days, but doubled up the next) of my second novel, In the Red. And I’m still on track for an end-of-June completion of the first draft.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, not everyone is suited to this type of writing schedule, and that’s totally cool. Do what works for you. But more and more folks have been checking in regularly at the #1kaday hashtag, which is exciting to see. Just yesterday @adenpenn tweeted this:

My 3 most watched tweetdeck columns are #amwriting, #pubwrite & #1kaday. I’m excited & grateful for the twitter writing community. <3

How cool is that?

How are you holding up out there? Are you finding this regimen tough? motivating? fun? Fill us in on your progress in the comments below. Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Happy writing!

  1. Hi Dina! So glad the 1K challenge is taking off and staying in the air and, well, even soaring! So proud of everyone!
I haven’t accumulated the numbers I’ve been looking for this week–This is the only weigh-in I know of where we HOPE for the gain, right?!

  2. I wish I would have discovered #1kaday at the start of the month. I am always late to the best parties! ( I have however had a few 1k days recently)

  3. Things are going really well! The past two days have been hard to log in the words, my brain is shutting off, but for the rest of the month things were going great.
Now to just turn my brain back on…write through the difficulty. I had 700 yesterday and only have 100 today, but I did get some revising done. :)
I’m so excited that you started this. I’ll be forever grateful to you. :)

  4. Good for you, Dina! I’m on track, too, though some days are better than others. I need to get back to revisions, though, so my word count may go down a bit. But, I’m still very motivated.

Hope you keep on keeping on!

  5. Lots of (real life) stuff going on, so a little down on the productivity…. will hope to have a better week next week. You guys are the greatest cheerleaders I could hope for. Thanks so much! xo from wordsxo (and Julia)
