Woke up feeling a bit anxious today. After an inspiring reading yesterday from John McPhee, I managed to come home and do absolutely no writing on Baby Grand. And today is jam-packed with activities, including a jaunt into Manhattan to see Mary Poppins on Broadway with my daughter, which means I’ll probably come home spent. Plus, because I had been spending time on chapter summaries in the past week, there were days when I was not able to write very much at all.
Uh oh… my two-pages-a-day plan is in serious trouble.
The last thing I want to do is continue writing feeling like I’m playing catch-up. Looming deadlines are one thing, but having to worry about what’s coming and what’s behind may put me over the edge. It’s time to reevaluate and just start fresh — Clean Slate Everyday, remember? Just go from here. Clear my mind, enjoy the day in the City, and continue writing tonight if possible, or start fresh tomorrow with a clear, more determined attitude.
Today’s mantra, said in my best English accent: Well begun is half done.
