Happy #NaNoWriMo, everyone! Today’s featured debut author is indie publishing advocate and extraordinaire Emlyn Chand, who is founder of the author PR firm Novel Publicity and purveyor of the famous Facebook Karmic Fridays (try saying THAT three times fast!). Emlyn’s Facebook bio claims that she “emerged from the womb with a fountain pen grasped firmly [...]

I don’t know about you, but I’m a Social Media junkie. I Facebook, I tweet and I LinkIn (haven’t gotten quite as into Google+ yet), and that can keep me entertained for hours. I’ve heard lots of my colleagues often talk about the perils of social media, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I realized [...]

You’ve gotta [...]

I met today’s featured debut author, Jessica Harlan, back when we were both working for a home furnishings trade magazine at Fairchild Publications in New York City in the 1990s — she was writing about housewares, I was writing about furniture. Since that time, both of us have sort of changed gears but have found [...]

Yes, this week’s Debut Author Q&A is a day late, but is far from a dollar short (as my father-in-law likes to say). Big thanks to author Jane Roper whose interview today is thoughtful, enlightening and chock-full of truths about the writing life — I was nodding my heading in agreement the whole way through. [...]

Although I officially met today’s featured debut author, Karen Bonnet, at Book Expo America in May, something tells me our paths may have crossed a year or so ago while I was attending an Arts in Education showcase on Long Island — I have a distinct memory of chatting with an author there about whale [...]
